The Higher Education Commission is an autonomous body that regulates higher education in Pakistan. It was created as the University Grants Commission in 1974 and reconstituted as HEC in 2002.

The Higher Education Commission
is an independent body of the Government of Pakistan. He is responsible for higher education standards and university management. It generates and spends for its policies.

Education must be required for the position. At least Matriculation, Bachelor, Master and Doctorate. A degree is required. Candidates must have between 6 and 20 years of experience in the relevant field.
